JACQUELINE
McDONOUGH GRANT
ARCHIVIST
I spent the best part of 10 years working as the Bathurst Diocesan Archivist.
Records there go back to the 1830s and among them is much of the early history of the Central West of New South Wales, not just of the Catholic Church.
My work was varied and challenging but never onerous. It included:
* cataloguing the hundreds of photos many of which were of historical significance
* organising remarkable documents going back to the correspondence of the first Bishop, Matthew Quinn, 1866-1886.
* photographing and collating the extensive and fascinating artefacts collection
* carrying out research for family historians
* updating property records
* ensuring that all the collection was correctly stored according to scientfically-based input
* early historic copies of 'The Record' accepted by TROVE
* National Historical Significance awarded to the Diocesan Archives Collection
* one of my last contributions was compiling a history of the Diocese in written and illustrated form as well as a 3-part video
